Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE)
The Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE): Connecting people, promoting dialogue, strengthening regions
The Institute of European Regions (IRE) was founded in 2004 by the former Governor of Salzburg, Professor Franz Schausberger, to create a forum for European regions, municipalities, and businesses. Through our activities and initiatives, we support regionalization and decentralization and serve as a point of contact for related questions and challenges. We address information gaps and promote dialogue between regions as well as cross-border cooperation.
As a non-partisan and non-profit organization, the IRE is open to all interested regions, cities, and companies from across Europe. The network currently comprises more than 180 members from over 20 European countries.
"It's about knowledge transfer, expanding the network and contact with the regions."
