Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE)
The Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE): Connecting people, promoting dialogue, strengthening regions
The Institute of European Regions (IRE) was founded in 2004 by the Salzburg Governor, retired Univ.-Prof. Dr. Franz Schausberger founded to create a forum for European regions, municipalities and companies. With our activities and initiatives, we support regionalization and decentralization and are a contact person for relevant questions and challenges. We reduce information deficits and promote dialogue between the regions and cross-border cooperation.
As a non-partisan and non-profit institution, the IRE is open to all interested regions, cities and companies from Europe. The network currently includes more than 160 members from 23 European countries.
“It’s about know-how transfer, expanding the network and contact with the regions.”
