>>> Data protection

The protection of your personal data is of particular importance to us. We therefore process your data on the basis of the legal provisions (GDPR, Austrian Telecommunications Act 2003). In this privacy policy, we inform you about the most important aspects of data processing within the framework of this website. Each time you visit this website, data (some of which is personal) is automatically collected and processed. The following data is collected to create visitor statistics about the use of this website, to improve the website, and to protect it from cyberattacks: date and time of visit, the URL the visitor is currently on, the URL the visitor visited immediately beforehand, the browser used, the operating system used, and the visitor's IP address. To make visiting our website attractive and to enable the use of certain functions, so-called "cookies" are used. These are small text files that are temporarily stored on your computer. No personal data is stored about you in this process. If you use this website without changing your browser's cookie settings, you consent to the use of cookies. If you do not wish to allow cookies, you can configure your browser to notify you when cookies are being set and allow them only on a case-by-case basis. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of the website.

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google", Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google Analytics uses "cookies," which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will generally be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. The level of data protection is based on an adequacy decision by the European Commission pursuant to Article 45 GDPR ("Privacy Shield"). On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity, and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. Google Analytics may also be used to evaluate data from AdWords and the DoubleClick cookie for statistical purposes. If you do not agree, you can deactivate this.We occasionally use the online advertising program "Google AdWords" and, within Google AdWords, conversion tracking. Google Conversion Tracking is an analytics service provided by Google Inc. When you click on an ad placed by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is stored on your computer. These cookies expire after 30 days, do not contain any personally identifiable information, and are therefore not used for personal identification. If you visit certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognize that you clicked on the ad and were redirected to this page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. This means that cookies cannot be tracked across the websites of different AdWords customers. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted in to conversion tracking. Here, customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any personally identifiable information. If you do not wish to participate in tracking, you can object to this use by preventing the installation of cookies through a corresponding setting in your browser software.

If you voluntarily submit personal data via this website, for example, as part of an inquiry using an online form or email, you expressly consent to the electronic collection and processing of the personal data you provide (first and last name, institution, company, address, your message, email address, and telephone number) that is necessary for any potential legal transaction. We will store and process your data exclusively within the Institute of the Regions of Europe for your individual support, for processing your inquiry, sending you information, or providing service offers, and for any follow-up questions, for up to 36 months, unless we need to retain it for a longer period for reasons of documentation or legal retention periods, no further communication takes place, and no customer or legal relationship exists. We will, of course, treat your information confidentially in accordance with applicable data protection and professional regulations.

For the operation of this website, we use the following data processor, which ensures its technical functionality: 1&1 IONOS SE, Elgendorferstraße 57, 56410 Montabaur. Due to system requirements, these data processors have technical access to some of your personal data in order to perform these tasks (e.g., during the operation of the mail server through which our email communication takes place or during regular website backups). Our data processors are bound by all the above assurances and may not use this data in any way beyond what is necessary for the operation of the website. Furthermore, your personal data will not be disclosed without your explicit consent, unless there is a legal authorization or obligation to do so (e.g., disclosure to law enforcement agencies and courts, disclosure to public authorities that receive data based on legal regulations, e.g., social security institutions, tax authorities, etc.) or if we engage third parties bound by professional confidentiality to enforce our claims. You have the fundamental rights, free of charge, to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, withdrawal of consent, and objection. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Data Protection Authority. Stored personal data will be erased if you withdraw your consent to its storage or if knowledge of this data is no longer necessary for fulfilling the purpose for which it was stored. However, erasure will only take place after the expiry of the retention periods stipulated by tax and commercial law.

For questions regarding the collection, processing, or use of your personal data, or for information, correction, blocking, or deletion of data, please contact: Institute of the Regions of Europe, Nonntaler Hauptstraße 58, 5020 Salzburg, Austria, T 43-(0)662-84328810, office@institut-ire.eu
